Our Story & The Creator of Generate Kind Co.

Our brand was born out of a passion for all things natural and nature inspired. We believe in living a healthy, balance lifestyle and consuming products that are as close to nature as possible. We love fresh fruits, vegetables and sourcing from local farms. We love nature and being in the fresh air, moving our body physically and being mindful in our thoughts and thinking. When all of these things align the thought of using synthetic, chemical-based skincare and body products goes against everything we live, breath and believe in.

Kia ora, my name is Mel, and I am the creator behind the brand Generate Kind Co. A little bit about me, I am a kiwi through and through - New Zealand, Aotearoa is my home and where my heart belongs. We truly do live in the most beautiful country! I am a wife to my husband Jody, a mother to my daughter Evelyn, an Early Childhood Educator and now a small business owner.

Those that know me would describe me as being very health conscious. My non-negotiable is to move my body daily! Whether that is in my home gym, yoga and stretching, biking to work, walking around my local community or exploring our local hills and forests.

I haven’t always used natural products and ingredients on my skin. As I was growing up I dealt with acne on my face and body. I wasn't aware of the abundance of naturally potent, healing and nutrient-rich plants and botanicals. As I was in my early adult life I continued to be affected by acne on my face. This began my journey towards my holistic health and well-being, researching and deepening my knowledge into natural botanicals and ingredients, and maintaining a sustainably healthy lifestyle.

Once I fell pregnant with our beautiful baby girl after trying for so long, I began researching even deeper into these botanicals and ingredients to find out the safest, most nourishing to use throughout my pregnancy journey. I've created products that aligned with my values, our needs, and the health of my growing baby throughout this precious time. Once she was born my journey continued as I researched and created products that were now the best for her skin, body, and well-being.

The brand Generate Kind Co was born on a dream of creating simple, yet effective, natural skincare products. Designed and formulated thoughtfully and lovingly for families like my own, who value the same values as I do. 

Our Brand name and core value of kindness has been woven through from my job as an Early Childhood Educator/Kaiako. The word ‘Kind’ resonated with me deeply, it is a simple word with a powerful meaning. One we as preschool teachers role model, teach and preach daily. Promoting and encouraging our tamariki to be kind to people, places and things and how we care for ourselves, others, our environment and wider world.

This is where Generate Kind Co's values and beliefs have been ingrained. Now my goal is to ingrain them through my products and brand to create a positive force.

We believe in the power of affirmations to promote kindness and compassion towards ourselves. That’s why we have incorporated positive affirmations on our products to help cultivate a sense of positivity, no matter what your day holds.

We strive to be as eco-friendly and sustainable as possible, making conscious choices in our ingredients, sourcing, packaging, and supporting local businesses. We are proud to be vegan-friendly because we believe in being kind to all beings, and that includes animals. Our products are cruelty-free and never tested on animals.

Honesty & Transparency – We strongly value honesty and transparency. We believe in fostering open and authentic relationships with all of our customers. This means providing you with clear and honest information about our products, ingredients and practices.

Handcrafted in Small Batches – We carefully create our products by hand, in small batches or to order. This ensures that every creation is thoughtfully made and sent out at its freshest and highest potency. It also ensures there is minimum wastage and each order is infused with love and kindness, just for you!

Positive Affirmation – We understand the importance of positive self-talk and the impact it has on our daily lives and well-being. Our goal is to inspire and encourage you to practice positive self-talk by incorporating positive affirmations into your daily skincare ritual.

Vegan & Cruelty-Free - We are proud to be vegan-friendly because we believe in being kind to all beings, and that includes animals. Our products are cruelty-free and never tested on animals.

Natural Plant-Derived Ingredients – We firmly believe that anything you put on your body should be as safe and healthy as anything you put inside your body. This is why our products are made only with plant-derived, natural ingredients, and we prioritize organic ingredients where possible.

Free from - We avoid any potentially harmful ingredients that cause skin irritation or can be toxic, we do not use animal-derived ingredients, we do not use synthetic ingredients, fragrances, dyes, we do not use ingredients that are a problem for the environment. We also avoid parabens, SLS and SLES, PEGS, Mineral oils, silicones. This ensuring that our products are as biocompatible as possible and you can trust what you are putting on your skin is safe. We strive to make products that promote holistic health and well-being, nourishing the body both inside and out.

Sustainability – We strive to minimize our environmental impact through responsible eco-friendly choices. From our 100% recycled material labels to our FSC ® responsible forestry card and paper stock notes. We take pride in using eco-friendly packaging to minimize our environmental impact. Our products are packaged in glass jars and bottles with the option of reusing the dropper, spray mist, brush and serum top on reorder. We offer a return & reuse program for our customers where we are committed to de-labelling, washing, sanitizing and reusing packaging for many more rounds of use. We package and send all of our orders in either cardboard boxes, home & commercially compostable courier bags or NZ recycled plastic courier bags, recycled paper and card and biodegradable string. 

Support Local NZ  – Where ever possible we strive to source out ingredients and packaging locally and support New Zealand businesses that share our values.

 
Return - We use glass jars and bottles for our products, these are not only recyclable but re-usable. Return your product packaging to us so that we can de-label, wash, sanitize and give them another round or two!

Reuse - When re-ordering your product from us, opt for a 'reorder small cap' so you can reuse your pump, serum, oil dropper, brush and spray mist tops. No need to wash out your old one, just swap it over. 

How to Return - If you live locally (Christchurch/Selwyn) all you need to do is contact us for a drop off address. If you live further away, we suggest to start collecting up your jars and bottles and storing them in a safe place. Once you have a good stash collected up, with your next order leave a note or contact us and we will include a return bag in your order.

Extending the lifespan of our packaging reduces unnecessary waste in our landfills.
