The Little Things I'll Pack Again
Affirmation
"Nature provides comfort, and I welcome its gentle care"
With my due date getting closer, I've started doing all those little nesting jobs that make it feel very real.
- The hospital bag is slowly coming together.
- Baby clothes are washed and folded.
- The nursery is taking shape.
And I'm beginning to organise the little spaces around the house where we'll spend those first precious weeks together.
The nappy caddy, the nursery shelf, the nappy bag, and of course, my hospital bag.
After doing this once before, I've realised I don't need nearly as much as I thought I did. I know now which little things I'll actually reach for. And, unsurprisingly, most of them are simple, gentle products made with ingredients I already trust.
🌿 Kawakawa Balm - This one is coming with me to hospital.
Kawakawa Balm has been one of my family's little all-rounders for years, and I know it'll come in handy postpartum.
I'll keep it in my hospital bag, then move it into the nappy bag once we're home — ready for whoever in the family needs a little extra care.
💛 Nipple Balm - This is one I'm definitely not forgetting!
It's going straight into my hospital bag, and I'll keep another close by in the nappy caddy at home.
A safe, natural healing and soothing balm for before and after feeds feels like one of those little comforts I'll be very grateful for.
🌼 Calendula Baby Balm - This one will be in more than one place.
I'll have a jar in our nappy caddy, another close by in the nursery and one packed in her nappy bag — because I want to keep her delicate little skin protected and nourished from day one.
Calendula is such a beautiful botanical for delicate skin, and our Baby Balm will be our go-to for protecting her skin from those very first days.
💜🌙 Baby Massage Oil - This one is going in the nursery and our nappy caddy, ready for those quiet moments after her bath.
I'm already picturing those sleepy newborn cuddles, a little massage, pyjamas on and into bed.
It's such a simple ritual, but I remember how lovely those moments felt. A few minutes of slowing down together before the day ends.
💋 Lip Balm - A small, but absolutely essential.

Because there is nothing worse than dry lips — especially when you're in hospital, feeding, not drinking enough water and suddenly realising you've forgotten your lip balm.
🌿 Baby Bump Butter — A pregnancy staple I'll continue using through the early postpartum months.
Baby Bump Butter has been part of both of my pregnancies, from very early on, and I'll continue using it through the changes of pregnancy and into those first three months postpartum.
I'll keep it beside my bed and use it morning and night.
As my skin stretches and changes, I love the comfort of massaging in those nourishing butters and oils. It's helped keep that uncomfortable itchiness at bay for me, and it's something I genuinely look forward to using. And yes, I'm hoping it continues to support my skin through the postpartum changes too!
Looking at all these little products lined up, I've realised something.
It's not really about having more. It's about having a few things I know I'll use. Things that make me feel prepared. Things that feel gentle enough for our new little girl, but useful enough to become part of everyday family life.
So, slowly, I'm putting everything in its place.
💛 A little something in the hospital bag.
💛 A little something in the nappy caddy.
💛 A little something in the nursery.
💛 And a few essentials ready to come with us wherever we go.
We're getting closer now and I think I'm finally starting to feel ready to meet her ❤️
🌸 Today's Affirmation
"Nature provides comfort, and I welcome its gentle care."
Take a moment today to notice the simple things that bring you comfort.
A warm shower.
A quiet cup of tea.
Moisturising your skin.
A cuddle with your little one.
Or simply taking a few deep breaths and remembering that you don't have to have everything figured out.
💛 My Self-Care Ritual
As I prepare for baby, I'm trying not to rush the process.
Instead, I'm slowly creating little spaces that will make those early days easier. It's less about having everything perfect and more about making things feel calm, familiar and within reach.
