Pregancy Journey | Part Three Rest Isn't Something I Earn

Rest Isn't Something I Earn

Affirmation

"I honour my body by giving it the rest, care and kindness it deserves."

If there's one lesson this pregnancy has gently taught me, it's this...

Rest isn't something I have to earn.

For a long time, I believed rest only came after everything else was finished. After the washing was folded. After dinner was made. After the toys were put away and the house was clean.

The truth is, as a mum and someone running a small business, there is always something waiting to be done. The list never really ends.

This pregnancy has reminded me that sometimes the most productive thing I can do is simply slow down.

As my body has changed and my bump has grown, I've become much better at listening to what it's needs. Some afternoons it's asking me to put my feet up. Some evenings it's asking me to head to bed a little earlier. Some days it's asking me to let go of the idea that everything has to be finished today.

Instead of fighting those moments, I'm learning to honour them. Because while it may look like I'm doing very little, my body is doing one of the most incredible things imaginable.

It's growing a tiny human!!

Every little kick reminds me that even while I'm resting, my body is working around the clock and that's something worth celebrating.

One of my favourite ways to unwind at the end of the day has been reaching for our Organic Lavender & Lupin Heat Pillow. I designed these to create small moments of comfort and calm, and I've found myself relying on mine more than ever throughout this pregnancy.

Made with breathable natural Linen and filled with Organic New Zealand-grown Lavender and Lupin Seeds, it offers gentle, comforting warmth while the soft Lavender aroma encourages me to slow down, breathe deeply and truly relax. Whether I'm easing tight shoulders, a sore back or simply curling up on the couch, it's become part of my evening ritual—a small act of kindness that helps both my body and mind unwind.

Rest has looked different for me this pregnancy, too. Some days it's ten minutes of gentle stretching. Other days it's a slow yoga session, a walk outside, taking a few deep breaths, or simply sitting with a hot drink while my daughter plays. I've realised that caring for my body doesn't always have to be big or complicated. Often, it's the small, intentional moments of self-care that leave me feeling the most restored.

🌿 Today's Affirmation

"I honour my body by giving it the rest, care and kindness it deserves."

Place one hand on your heart and one on your bump.

Take three slow, deep breaths.

As you breathe in, imagine filling your body with calm.

As you breathe out, release any guilt you feel about resting.

Your body is already doing enough.

🌸 My Self-Care Ritual

Most evenings, once the day begins to wind down, I warm my Organic Lavender & Lupin Heat Pillow and spend 10–15 minutes simply being still.

Sometimes I read. Sometimes I just sit quietly and feel our little girl moving. I've realised that these moments don't have to be elaborate to be meaningful.
